Blueberry extract.
Blueberries contain essential organic acids. Such as citric acid, lactic acid,
quinic acid, oxalic acid, malic and succinic acids. It is this unique acid
composition that largely determines its unique medicinal properties. In
addition, blueberries contain many minerals that we need for normal life. These
are salts of iron, potassium, manganese, copper, sulfur, phosphorus, chromium
and zinc. In terms of manganese content, blueberries have no equal among
plants. Blueberries are a good source of magnesium and calcium. In addition,
blueberries contain: carotene (vitamin A), B vitamins, vitamins C and PP.
Blueberries also contain tannins, alcohols and essential oil. Blueberries are
rich in pectins, which are able to cleanse the intestines of decomposition
products, toxins and even salts of heavy metals. Blueberry extract is used for
eye diseases, gastrointestinal tract, diabetes mellitus and in gerontology,
cardiovascular diseases, treats eye diseases, as well as locally in the
treatment of burns and ulcers, stomatitis and gingivitis.
Taurine -
2-aminoethanesulfonic acid. Helps improve energy processes, stimulates
reparative processes in dystrophic diseases and processes accompanied by
significant metabolic disorders of eye tissues. Being a sulfur-containing amino
acid, taurine helps normalize the function of cell membranes, improve metabolic
processes.
Quercetin (flavonoid)
is an aglycone of many plant flavonoid glycosides, including rutin, and belongs
to the vitamin preparations of group P. Dihydroquercetin has a positive effect
on the condition of cartilage, bone and connective tissue, strengthens small
and large blood vessels, and also normalizes the level of triglycerides and
cholesterol in the blood, preventing the formation of blood clots.
Beta-carotene is
provitamin A. Beta-carotenes are able to deposit oxygen in cells.
Zinc is an essential
element, the importance of which is determined by the fact that it is part of
the hormone insulin, participates in carbohydrate metabolism and other
important enzymes, participates in the processes of hematopoiesis, in
photochemical reactions of the vision process, in the activity of endocrine
glands.
Lutein and its isomer
zeaxanthin are carotenoids, the main pigments of the macula of the retina.
Increases visual acuity, provides clarity of vision and the ability to
distinguish details. Reduces the flow of the most aggressive part of the
visible light spectrum. Protects against free radicals. This is a pigment
belonging to the group of oxygen-containing carotenoids - xanthophylls.
Xanthophylls are the main component of yellow pigments in leaves, flowers,
fruits and buds of higher plants, as well as in many algae and microorganisms.
Lutein (and its isomer - zeaxanthin) plays a major role in the physiology of
vision. It has two main functions:
- Increases visual
acuity by reducing chromatic aberration, i.e. filtering the visually
ineffective part of the spectrum before it reaches the photoreceptors
(eliminating the "aberration halo"). This provides greater clarity of
vision, the ability to distinguish small details.
- Photoprotection. The
flow of the most aggressive part of the visible spectrum - blue-violet, which
corresponds to the absorption range of lutein, decreases. Lutein also provides
protection against free radicals formed in direct light. A decrease in such
protection leads to retinal degeneration and gradual loss of vision.
Lutein also reduces
the formation and accumulation of lipofuscin pigment, which causes the
development of age-related retinal dystrophy. The higher the density of lutein
in the retina, the lower the risk of its damage. A decrease in the protective
function of the retina due to a lack of lutein in food leads to dystrophy of
the pigment layer of the retina (macular dystrophy), and ultimately to complete
loss of vision. Today, this is the most common cause of blindness in people
over 60 years of age. Increasing lutein intake with food or in the form of
supplements is an effective way that can help increase its concentration in the
blood serum, which in many cases leads to an increase in the density of the
macular pigment.
